COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • The concept of Self Capacities and how compromised self capacities reflect problems in relatedness, identity, affect regulation and reflective function observed in survivors of complex trauma.
  • The principles behind Intra-relational AEDP¹s multiplicity model of self and ways they can inform clinical work focused on affect regulation and reflective capacity.
  • How to apply AEDP’s use of affective/somatic tracking, emotional regulation, metaprocessing and focus on change-for-the-better to work with inner ego-states.
  • How, through the study of actual therapy sessions, to integrate the use of AEDP-informed “part’s work” into clinician’s current approach to treating chronically neglected and traumatized patients.
