This workshop will introduce participants to AEDP’s affective change processes associated with “linking and synching” with oneself. Developed for work with chronically neglected and traumatized individuals, intra-relational change processes in AEDP emphasize the processing of affective states linked to the explicit experience of attunement — resonance, expansion of self-awareness, relief of aloneness, soothing of negative affect, self-recognition, and positive alterations in self-perception. Such work addresses not only traumatic aspects of childhood maltreatment but also those stemming from emotional neglect.
The workshop will involve extensive use of video tape following a client through ten months of treatment.
