More about Dr. Diana Fosha

At AEDP we are often asked questions such as  “what is AEDP?” and “what is the AEDP approach to … (fill in the blank)?”

In launching the 2013-2014 NYC AEDP Seminar Series, Dr. Fosha will attempt to answer some of those questions –and explain why others can’t be answered—by taking this opportunity to reflect on AEDP. And, as reflected in the seminar title, in so doing, explore where we are; where we’ve come from and how we got here; and where we’re going. This seminar will be a talk, breaking from the dear AEDP tradition of talking little and showing lots of videotape. This will be an opportunity to explore the topic in depth.

The talk will have two parts: Part One will explore how the context in which AEDP arose continues to shape AEDP (both what it is and what it isn’t), and Part Two will be devoted to exploring a new direction for AEDP. Introducing recent cutting edge research findings on the neurobiological nature of the self, Dr. Fosha will explore the implications of that research for the treatment of dissociation and the role of recognition in the healing of dissociation, with recognition being a change agent from the outside in, in counterpoint to other transformational processes, which of course, operate from the inside out.
