Hinsdale, Mary
I live, breath and work from an Attachment Psychology perspective as an EFT couples and family therapist and an adoptive mother of one and step-parent of three teen-agers. I find myself ever fascinated and seeking to integrate from the waves of data generated by past and current research in neuropsychology. I am inspired and still find deep meaning from the optimism, acceptance and affirming perspective of Humanistic Psychology that holds that each of us has the innate drive to wholeness and health regardless of our circumstances, overt adaptations and maladaptations. It is that perspective that has served and proven trustworthy from my earliest training and education thru the 36 plus years of my psychotherapy career.
In AEDP I admire and delight in the beautiful and pragmatic synthesis of all of these along with the opportunity to learn, practice and aspire to mastery of a cohesive and cogent theory of the healing and transformational potential realized in the therapeutic dyad. My experience of AEDP’s calling forth and valuing the full use of self as therapist and conscious human being in a healing and explicitly present oriented and client centered relationship worthy of heartful celebration. I am grateful to Diana Fosha, PhD., and all who join her in this living and committedly engaged AEDP community and endeavor that draws from the best of where we’ve come from as therapists while embracing and inspiring on-going exploration. I am especially enthralled by how this potent and applicable therapeutic model, in addition to significantly lowering emotional and mental suffering, will settle for no less than emotional wholeness and transformation that is marked by enlivened authenticity, creativity, curiosity and deeply enhanced sense of life’s joy and meaning as being realistic and expected therapeutic outcomes. Who doesn’t want to be part of that?!
