About the Seminar
This training will focus on learning practical tools to track patient material moment by moment, using both verbal and somatic cues, in an active and focused manner with a particular focus on removing barriers to deeper affective work in severely traumatized patients. The goals will be to learn ways to create a safe environment which will create the foundation necessary to accelerate the treatment process in those with low anxiety/ affect tolerance and a tendency toward acting out. Specific techniques will be reviewed such as: restructuring defenses, transforming resistance, regulating anxiety and other inhibitory forces; separating anxiety and defense from expressive core affective phenomena; encouraging a new and corrective experience; utilizing the therapy relationship and relational interventions to access underlying healing resources and their associated adaptive action tendencies.
The format will include teaching modules to understand fundamental concepts with viewing of patient videos to illustrate the concepts, and opportunities to micro-analyze the videos together in workshop style.
Course Fee
This workshop costs $75.00 (and $55.00 for students), but save 10% if you register by May 23rd. The walk-in fee is $95.00.
